Children's Classic Concerts presents Gypsy Jazz
I enjoyed everything apart from going home!
- Owen Gunnell - Percussion
- Rose Room - Jazz Ensemble
CCC presenter and virtuoso percussionist Owen has teamed up with award-winning jazz ensemble, Rose Room for an interactive introduction to jazz that will have the whole family dancing in the aisles. Enjoy sensational solos showing off the swingin' strings of the double bass, guitars and jazz fiddle; travel the world listening to high-energy numbers from France to Russia and experience tap dancing like never before. Expect the effervescent sound of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli as they serve up a mix of 1930s standards, original music and gypsy jazz favourites.
Fees are negotiable and CCC would be happy to discuss a co-promotion to reduce the fee level.
Children's Classic Concerts has a serious commitment to making music fun. Reaching more than 13,000 children and their families each year, our concerts are range from symphony orchestra concerts to small chamber concerts and cover classical, orchestral, folk and jazz music. We aim to create interactive, innovative and inspirational experiences that can ignite a passion for culture in both the young and the old.
Our small ensemble performances are a great opportunity for young music fans to get up close and personal to their favourite instruments. The programmes have been carefully planned with music societies in mind and to encourage a whole new generation to get involved in music performances. Each performance has an accompanying pre-concert workshop or an opportunity to meet the musicians following the concert.
We choose ensembles to work with that are acclaimed, award-winning musicians and our own Artistic Director and presenter is a highly regarded percussionist in his own right, who regularly performs with the major UK orchestras and is a member of the renowned Colin Currie Group.
Scottish Jazz Award-winning ‘Best Band' Rose Room are Scotland's leading ensemble influenced by ‘Hot Club' Swing. Led by virtuoso violinist, two-time Scottish Jazz Award-winning vocalist, and BBC Broadcaster Seonaid Aitken, the Glasgow-based band also features Scotland's No.1 guitar maker Jimmy Moon on double bass, with Danny Kyle Award-winning Swing Guitars' Tam Gallagher and Tom Watson on rhythm and solo guitars respectively.
