Formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2019, the Clova Quartet is an exciting, young string quartet based in London whose aim is to recontextualise string quartet music through innovations in programming, concert formatting and repertoire.
The quartet made their debut at the Kinnordy Chamber Music Festival shortly after forming and are continuing to quickly build their repertoire. Following competitive auditions in October 2019, they were selected for the Frost ASSET Scheme 2019-2020 (Royal Academy of Music) and assigned Levon Chilingirian (Chilingirian Quartet) as their specialist mentor. They have been fortunate to work with many distinguished musicians, such as Robin Michael, Ben Hancox (Sacconi Quartet), Catherine Manson (London Haydn Quartet), James Boyd, John Myerscough (Doric Quartet), and Hartmut Rohde (University of the Arts, Berlin).
The quartet are delighted to be participating in the 2020 Trondheim Chamber Music Festival Academy, during which time they will be studying with Jennifer Stumm, Saskia Giorgini, and the Van Kuijk and Vertavo Quartets. During their time there they will also perform Brahms’ String Quintet Op. 111 with Jennifer Stumm.
