Biography
The Roxburgh Quartet's enjoyment and love of the wonderful and varied repertoire for string quartet is at the very heart of their music making. Their concerts are about sharing the warmth, intimacy and passion of what is broadly recognised as some the greatest music ever written. They are committed to bringing high quality live performance to as wide an audience as possible and their concerts are popular with people of all ages.
Formed in 2005 and based in Edinburgh, the Roxburgh Quartet is an established and well-loved ensemble in Scotland. The current line-up has been performing together since 2019 and has been described as "a tightly-knit and most impressive ensemble" (Ayr Music Club). They make regular appearances at Crichton Collegiate Church, Penicuik Community Arts Association and the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as touring throughout Scotland. Their repertoire is ever-expanding and includes the late Schubert quartets, the German Romantics, the great French masterworks and, notably, Bartok's First Quartet and Tan Dun's Eight Colours for String Quartet.
