JKL DUO

Simply stunning!

Skye Chamber Music, October 2022

The word “virtuoso” is often overused, but the musicianship and rapport of the JKL Duo who played for the Clitheroe Concerts Society last week deserve it fully ... An amazing evening of very unusual but interesting and entertaining music played by extraordinary musicians and enjoyed by an audience who just didn’t want to leave

Ken Geddes - Clitheroe Concerts Society, March 2022

Duo - Instrumental

Instrumentation

  • Jacopo Lazzaretti - Classical Guitar
  • Kerry Lynch - Flute

Repertoire

The JKL DUO's repertoire ranges from Early to Contemporary music, containing many of the most valuable works from the Flute and Guitar repertoire.

Since the start of 2022, they have been touring Scotland with their project 'The International Poet', which features new music commissioned especially for them from some of the most celebrated works by Robert Burns by contemporary composers from around the world. Here they have imagined what Scotland’s beloved Bard could potentially have created, should he have been alive today in a world where physical distance is no longer the obstacle it once was to communication, collaboration and creation.

Biography

The JKL DUO, comprised of Jacopo Lazzaretti and Kerry Lynch, play music straight from the heart, using the Flute and Classical Guitar to speak to listeners all across the world. The duo released their debut album ‘The International Poet’ in 2023 and have been touring it extensively in concert series and festivals within Scottish cities such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Isle of Skye, being described as ‘Simply stunning’ (Skye Chamber Music). The CD has been broadcast in Scotland, was awarded ‘Album of the Week’ at Celtic Music Radio, and in August 2023 the duo went to Rome to present it on Luigi Picardi’s show L’Arpeggio’ for Vatican Radio. Kate Calder (Edinburgh Music Review) described it as ‘a stimulating and thought-provoking take on the music found by Robert Burns’, and Canadian guitarist Michael Ibsen said ‘To see such a unique, well-executed, and fresh concept for a chamber music album is a rare delight, and the world is all the richer for JKL DUO's cheek in attempting such a project’. In addition to performing concerts, the duo also regularly play at corporate events and functions, such as for Graypaul Glasgow Ferrari ‘Women with Drive: A Night in Italy’ and ‘A Starry Night in Rome’. When not performing, Jacopo and Kerry run their own teaching studio (JKL DUO Studio) in the heart of Glasgow’s West End, delivering 1-1 lessons, group/chamber music classes and providing performance opportunities for their students. From November 2023, JKL DUO will be represented by Classical Musicians Scotland.
